Trekking and mountain biking in the Alps

Choosing to spend your summer holidays in the Alps here at our hotel in Austria will enable you to enjoy our varied hiking programme and many exciting tours. Our mountain guide will be showing you the most attractive corners and routes in the Ötztal Mountains. However, if you prefer to plan your own tours, our team is always happy to advise you. With endless single trails, over 860 kilometres of mountain-bike routes, and exciting tours for freeriders and climbers, the Sölden area is also a land of plenty for passionate mountain bikers, as witnessed by the many pedalling guests who visit us every summer to spend their holidays in the Alps. The Giggijoch lift, right “next door”, leads to breathtaking mountain scenarios which provide the perfect backdrop for MTB adventures through blooming meadows and spectacular gravel paths.

Our weekly programme for your summer holidays in the Alps

To make the most of your summer holidays, visit our hotel in the Alps! As our guest, you will have access to a faceted weekly hiking- and biking programme.

Our hiking programme:

Summer hike in the Alps: Stallwies and Kleblealm

Our guide will take you along a narrow hiking trail through the Granbichl toward the Kleblealm alp, at 1,938 m. After a short break at the Stallwies Alm you will be heading to the Kleblealm. 

Once there you can add a 30-minute ascent to admire a magnificent panorama and remarkable wildflowers.

Rendezvous: 10:00 a.m. at the reception

Return: ca. 4:00 p.m.

Hiking time: 3 hours

Participants: min. 3, max 20 people

Registration: by 6:00 p.m. on the previous day, at the reception

Equipment: Food and drinks, rainwear, non-slip trekking shoes 

 

Leisurely circular hike

We will reach Hochsölden by bus, and start our hike from there across the high plateau of Sölden, stopping for refreshment in one of the many mountain huts this region has to offer.

Accompanied by the jaw-dropping scenery of the mighty 3,000ers and glacier, we will be enjoying a leisurely walk on a flat trail through the valley until we reach the Gaislachalm. From there, we will go back to the Gaislachkogel middle terminal and take the gondola back to Sölden.

Rendezvous: 10:00 a.m. at the reception

Hiking time: 3 hours

Participants: min. 3 people

Registration: by 6:00 p.m. on the previous day, at the reception

Equipment: Sunscreen and rainwear. Bus- and gondola fares are free for Ötztal Card holders

 

Sölderkogl peak experience

We will reach together the Windachtal valley by bus, and from there start our trek to the magnificent Söldenkogl, at nearly 2,900 m. A steadily uphill will lead us quickly to the forest limit. We will go on through Alpine meadows and slightly craggy passages to the summit, where we will take a break and enjoy the wonderful view to the Ötztal.

A quick entry into the book at the summit and then down we go again, heading to the wonderful Kleblealm where we will have the chance to taste well-deserved coffee and cake. The bus will finally take us back.

Rendezvous: 9:00 a.m. at the reception

Retunr: ca. 4:00 p.m. 

Hiking time: ca. 5 hours

Participants: min. 3 people 

Registration: by 6:00 p.m. on the previous day, at the reception

Equipment: Food and drinks, rainwear, hiking shoes, sunscreen

Bus fare: free for Ötztal Premium Card holders

 

Panoramic cable-car hike

The Giggijoch cable car will take us up at 2,260 m of altitude. We will head off on a narrow trail through the sunny plateau toward the "ägers Heimat", which offers a magnificent view over Sölden. After a short break surrounded by lush pastures, we will be descending back to the valley. 

We will take another break at the Edelweiss hut and then head back directly to the Hotel Liebe Sonne.

Rendezvous: 10:00 a.m. at the reception

Return: ca. 15:00 

Hiking time: ca. 3 hours

Participants: min. 3 people

Registration: by 18:00 on the previous day, at the reception

Equipment: Food and drinks, rainwear, hiking shoes, sunscreen

Cable car fare: free for Ötztal Premium Card holders

Our biking programme:

Family-friendly cycling tour

Our bike guide will take us on an easy tour through the flat Längenfelder valley. The well-developed bike trails winding through meadows and fields will lead us up a slight ascent, to the Bichl church. At the northern end of the valley basin, a 10-minute ride will take us to the Winkelberger Lake, where we can take a deserved rest. Those who can master the slope will be rewarded with an adventurous descent.

Rendezvous: 9:30 a.m. at the reception 

Return: ca. 15:00 

Biking time: ca. 2 hours

Participants: min. 3 max. 20 people

Registration: by 18:00 p.m. on the previous day, at the reception

Equipment: biking- or sport footwear, cycling apparel, flask
